Artificial intelligence that creates content (images, sound, video, etc.) is currently a hot topic for many, from the Hollywood writer's strikes to European regulatory bodies. This program of talks will provide an overview of the current state of AI-assisted artistic creation, as well as a practical initiation to this technology.

Douglas Edric Stanley teaches Algorithmic Design and Playable Media in the Media Design Master of the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD). In 1998 Douglas founded the Atelier Hypermedia at École supérieure d’art d’Aix-en-Provence, an influential atelier dedicated to the exploration of algorithms and code as artistic materials, with a particular emphasis on the use of play in the exploration of emerging forms.

He has organized numerous workshops related to creative programming for various non-profits, museums, universities and art schools. As an artist and curator, he has organized or participated in many international exhibitions related to digital art.

Nora N. Khan is a curator, editor and writer of critical works on digital visual culture and emerging technology theory. She is the next co-curator of the forthcoming Biennale de L'Image en Mouvement, with Andrea Bellini, organized by the Centre d'Art Contemporain de Genève. She has published Seeing, Naming, Knowing and, with Steven Warwick, Fear Indexing the X-Files, with AI Art and the Stakes for Art Criticism and Kingdom forthcoming. She has been professor of digital and media studies at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she was nominated for the John R. Frazier Award for teaching excellence.

Simon Senn is an artist who studied at HEAD - Geneva and Goldsmiths College in London. His works explore human interaction, specifically when mediated by technology. Adopting the point of view of the individual rather than the theoretical approach or specialized use, Senn examines what a technology provokes in concrete contexts.
