CHAMPOLLION THE EGYPTIAN
Agnès Molia & Gordon / France / 2022 / 8 min / French
Seven years after unlocking the mystery of the hieroglyphs, Jean-François Champollion enters the temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt. The moment is decisive: after four months of expedition, he has an appointment with the great Ramses II. Thanks to this virtual reality experience, you will relive this important moment in history. By the light of a torch, accompanied by the voice of Champollion, you enter the temple, reconstructed from the watercolors of David Roberts. Step by step, you discover its masterpieces, from the gigantic bas-relief of the battle of Qadesh to the sculptures of Ramses II and the gods Ra-Harakhty, Amun-Ra and Pta…
THE DAWN OF ART, A JOURNEY THROUGH THE CHAUVET CAVE
Pierre Zandrowicz / France / 2019 / 10 min / French
The year is 36 000 BC, this is where we left our first trace. More than 400 paintings were found in this cave, Chauvet Pont d’Arc, made by the first humans. Who were they? The Dawn of Art is a trip to the very heart of our origins, where bears were gods. Where humans invented their first creative gesture. Narrated by Daisy Ridley, The Dawn of Art is a virtual reality experience including both an immersive film and a virtual visit of the Chauvet Cave, a Unesco World Heritage Site, considered one the greatest scientific breakthroughs of the XXth century.
WHEN SHE GETS OUT
Gordon & Marie Sellier / France / 2021 / 28 min / French
In this surprising and playful augmented reality experience (AR), the young dancer Marie sets out to meet the characters who, like her, are eternally frozen among the most famous works of art in the Musée d’Orsay.
Bianca Kennedy, The Swan Collective / Germany, Brazil, Iceland / 2019 / 9 min / English
I am an animal. I eat animals. A strange duality, brought to life here through an absurd and funny project that Terry Gilliam would not disavow, in which insects, which have become the main link in the food chain, militate for humans to eat… whales.
Brian Andrews / United States / 2020 / 7 min / no dialogue
The odyssey of a spider-like hominid, a phantasmagorical creature born from the fusion of a biped and an arthropod, in five short vignettes, from birth to death. Or when virtual reality explores the apocalyptic future of human anatomy.
THE ORCHID AND THE BEE
Frances Adair McKenzie / Canada / 2020 / 5 min / no dialogue
From the orchid to the bee, natural selection, as described by Charles Darwin, is the great adventure of life. Or not. An expressionist and surreal ode to the struggle for survival of the species, whatever the species in question. Virtual reality in the Monty Python style.
